DescriptionHigher Achievement, a nationally recognized and award-winning nonprofit organization providing out-of-school time academic enrichment programs for middle school students in underserved communities, seeks an Intern to work closely with the Manager of Grants and Administrator performing office tasks essential to the Richmond affiliate.
About Higher Achievement
Higher Achievement’s rigorous afterschool and summer academic program gives youth from underserved communities their best opportunity to succeed in middle school — and in life. Our research-based program challenges middle school students to meet their full potential in three key areas: academics, social skills, and leadership. On average, 95% of Higher Achievement scholars who complete the program advance to top academic high schools and 93% advance to college. Higher Achievement currently operates achievement centers in Washington, DC, Alexandria, VA, Baltimore, MD and Richmond, VA. For more information, please visit www.higherachievement.org.
The intern will assist in the daily operations of Higher Achievement and gain an understanding of the behind-the-scenes work that is required to run our Summer Academy and Afterschool Academy. This is an opportunity to learn the basics of working in the non-profit education sector.
Daily tasks will include the preparation of marketing materials, maintaining social media outlets, grant and donor research and data entry, maintenance of the office inventory and paperwork, assisting with finance and accounting work, and preparing for center and fundraising events.
Although this is an un-paid position, it is available for credit. Higher Achievement may also serve as a reference for future job applications.
You MUST live or go to school in the Richmond area to be eligible for an internship. No phone calls. Please send a resume and cover letter to: firstname.lastname@example.org
