DescriptionThe AARP New Jersey Office, located in Princeton, NJ, has openings for 2013 internship appointments, Spring, Summer and Fall semesters! You will play a vital role in the development of advocacy and outreach events and will have the opportunity to expand your knowledge of the non-profit field. You will learn how the largest non-profit organization, dedicated to enriching the lives of older Americans, works and develops, and conveys its message to 38 million members.
The Business Operations Intern’s primary responsibility is to assist in the day-to-day operations of the AARP New Jersey State Office, as well as assist with clerical duties, special event projects, business transactions and activities that help promote the Advocacy and Outreach efforts of AARP.
Responsibilities•Assist in organizing special project assignments and assist, as appropriate, in the coordination of advocacy and outreach activities.
•Work directly with volunteers, staff, and national office to ensure implementation of AARP activities in the state.
•Assist in the weekly process of accounts payable as needed while processing volunteer expense statements and vendor invoices.
•Assist in the creation of reports while completing online searches, compiling data as well as reviewing figures related to financial aspects of the state office.
•Assist with mailings: maintaining and compiling lists, mail merging, addressing, coordinating materials, maintaining office systems etc.
•Represent the AARP New Jersey State Office at special events, membership cultivation activities, luncheons, etc. as requested.
•Performing all administration duties as well as minimal office A/V set-up as needed.
- Work closely with vendors and community partners on planning of events and purchasing of materials.
This is a paid position. Hourly Wage to be discussed.
RequirementsMust be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program. Must be able to work a minimum of 14 hours per week. Must have excellent communication, organizational, writing, and phone/computer skills, ability to work independently as well as collaboratively, and exercise initiative.
