DescriptionCommunications Office Intern
Shady Side Academy is currently seeking an intern to support the Communications Office for Fall 2012. Internships are open to students eligible for academic credit from an accredited college or university, or to recent college graduates looking for on-the-job experience.
• Writing and editing a variety of communications media, including press releases, newsletters, website and social media
• Photographing school events
• Organizing photo archives
• Shooting and editing videos using flipcam or iPad
• Designing and updating programs and other print materials
• Other duties as assigned
The ideal candidate should have exceptional writing and communication skills and have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. We are seeking an organized individual who is creative, forward-thinking and takes initiative.
Junior, senior or graduate of a bachelor’s degree program in communications or journalism. Knowledge of AP Style preferred; proficiency with Macintosh computers, including iPad, desired; proficiency with Microsoft Office required; experience with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and/or iMovie a plus; knowledge and experience with social media (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Pinterest) a plus.
Internship is unpaid but includes free lunch in the dining hall.
LOCATION AND HOURS
The Shady Side Academy Communications Office is located on the SSA Senior School campus in Fox Chapel, 423 Fox Chapel Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15238. Office hours are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Interns should be available to work 10-15 hours per week during these hours. Some after-hours and weekend events may be required.
