The BSO’s Education and Community Engagement programs offer individuals of all backgrounds an opportunity to develop their relationship with the BSO and build their ownership of and engagement with orchestral music through high quality, relevant, multileveled, and interactive education and community engagement experiences.

The BSO’s Education and Community Engagement department is seeking an intern for the 2014 fall semester. The internship is designed for an undergraduate or graduate student interested in gaining first-hand experience in an education and community engagement department setting within a large performing arts organization. The internship will offer exposure to the working environment of the BSO’s Education and Community Engagement Department, allowing the intern to explore career possibilities related to arts administration and (more specifically) education and community engagement work. A dedication to serving individuals from all backgrounds is required; an arts or arts administration background is suggested but not required.

Responsibilities

The intern will support the BSO’s Education and Community Engagement staff in their planning, implementation, and evaluation of departmental programs serving individuals of all ages and backgrounds. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
• Assisting with program feedback through database organization/design and tabulating constituent surveys.
• Attending select BSO Education and Community Engagement programs, and providing on-site support if and when needed
• Assist with other ad hoc projects based on departmental needs and intern interests, such as research and design projects.
