Conducts or participates in detailed analyses and review of audited operations.
Builds a working relationship with clients; incumbents are expected to know several department operations in depth and be able to review their operations with a professional viewpoint on audit procedures.
Assists in determining the extent of required audit testing. Prepares audit programs and suggests changes during the course of review to ensure objectives of audits are achieved.
May assist the most junior members in department on audit procedures and operations policy and procedures.
Prepares and/or reviews workpapers to insure conclusions reached are supported by sufficient evidential data.
Informs supervisors of results of audit in a complete and timely manner.
Prepares written material based on detailed analysis for inclusion in audit reports.
Participates in/conducts special projects as needed.
Performs any work assignments necessary for department to reach its business objectives.
Analytical, business judgment and time management skills.
Ability to interact effectively with departmental and agency staff and management.
Ability to perform assigned audit tasks timely and accurately.
Knowledge of PC applications and computer-assisted audit techniques. Knowledge of PeopleSoft a plus.
Understanding of audit practices, including audit program and workpaper development.
Progress towards certification (CIA/CISA/CFE, etc.) and/or graduate degree in business-related areas desired.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of audit standards, applicable governmental, MTA, and Audit Services-specific regulations, policies, and guidelines.
Education and Experience
Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Accounting, Auditing, or other related business or operational field.
Minimum one year experience in technology/financial/operational/contract type auditing or related industry experience and/or demonstrated satisfactory performance as an Auditor.
