Minimum Position Terms:
12-month assignment
6-month Assignment


Position Description ~ Assistant

As an Assistant with the Jamaican Heritage Society, you will work directly with the President and Founder managing the day-to-day operation of a non-profit organization. This internship is ideal for anyone interested in developing their work experience, expanding their skills, learning the inner workings of a non-profit and who wants unfettered access to everything a founder experiences when starting a company.

Your primary responsibilities:
Assist in promoting the organization’s initiatives
Manage calendar and e-mail correspondence (as assigned)
Ensure smooth operation of administrative functions
Assist in the planning and staffing of events
Other duties as assigned

Position Breakdown:
40% Administrative Duties
20% Project Work
40% Research

All assistants receive:
Company-provided laptop
Weekly stipend
Transportation Stipend**
Paid lunch/dinner (depending on hours worked)

**May work remotely or from our Union City office.


Minimum Requirements:
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision
Ability to work collaboratively
Excellent writing and internet research skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Proficient in Google Apps (Gmail, Drive, Hangout)
Mac & PC proficiency
High School Diploma Required
