Description

Summary
The Data and Evaluation Operations Intern will support a variety of projects to support the operational effciencies within the service impact evaluation team. This is an unpaid opportunity in which the intern will develop a variety of highly competitive resume-building skills including database construction, project management, relationship development, communication, teamwork, and networking. Interns will have the opportunity to participate in service days and contribute to special projects. The Program Evaluation Intern will be paired with a manager who will serve as a mentor throughout the internship. The position requires 16-24 hours per week and is eligible for course credit.

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities:
 Enter data into Excel spreadsheets and City Year’s internal database.
 Create data summaries that help people easily interpret results for individual schools
 Analyze time spent with students and share with service staff on a weekly to biweekly basis
 Manage and administer surveys to corps members and service partners; assemble or acquire gifts as incentives for survey completion.
 Provide customer service for City Year staff related to the evaluation team’s responsibilities
Secondary responsibilities:
 Assist various departments on high-priority projects and special events. This may include:
o Identifying and developing training opportunities for corps members and staff regarding data use and interpretation
o Troubleshoot technical issues related to data tracking systems
o Support Evaluation Team with operations and logistics

Qualifications
 Proficient Excel skills; comfortable entering data into Excel and Access
 Experience writing Excel formulas and designing formulas based on desired outcome
 Comfortable creating and managing large data sets
 Proven success operating in ambiguous and changing environments; is resourceful and can gain knowledge for needed tasks through self-guided investigation
 Strong critical thinking skills, the ability to solve problems and see projects through start-to-finish.
 Demonstrated understanding of City Year’s work within the national service movement and education sphere.
 City Year and AmeriCorps alumni are encouraged to apply.

Benefits
Candidates will receive a monthly MBTA pass for the duration of the internship; issue-date is dependent on start-date.
