Job Description


JOB SUMMARY

The primary responsibility of the Database Administrator is to install, configure, tune and maintain the database software. The Database Administrator will also participate in the development and implementation of an enterprise data integration strategy. This individual will own the Client Billing System, working close to the business unit and becoming a SME.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Participates in the development and implementation of an enterprise data integration strategy
Installs, configures, tunes, and maintains production, development and test databases
Installs application database definitions, tables, and security
Participates in application outage incidents to ensure database integrity and functionality
Participates in the creation and maintenance of back-up plans, triggers, stored procedures and control scripts
Schedules and tracks upgrades and changes to database applications
Defines and maintains database problem reporting, tracking, and resolution procedures
Participates fully in the product development process from requirements definition to application deployment
Utilizes data modeling tools to provide proactive analysis of potential changes to the data model: performance impacts; migration effort; code modification
Provides proactive input into design issues/constraints, performance tuning, and impact analysis of changes
Supports, enforces and improves upon existing database development, architecture and naming standards
Participates in design reviews and code inspections
All other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field; applicable experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
3-4 years Database administration experience
1-2 years of experience with Microsoft SQL (2012/2014)
Transact-SQL programming experience
Experience utilizing data modeling tools and management tools (TOAD, Erwin, ER Studio, Visio, etc.)
Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and/or Linux operating systems
Software development experience with Apache Tomcat (v. 7/8) and Java
Excellent business and system analysis skills
Highly productive in a fast paced environment
Collaborative/enjoys working in teams as well as an individual
Self-starter/motivator
Effective problem solving skills
Ability to multitask
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Strong organizational skills
Strong analytical skills
Detail oriented
