ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND
Children of Promise, NYC (CPNYC) is a community based, non-profit organization, in Bedford-Stuyvesant (Bed Stuy) Brooklyn, whose mission is to embrace the children of incarcerated parents and empower them to break the cycle of intergenerational involvement in the criminal justice system.
CPNYC offers an innovative and unique after-school program and summer day camp, the only one of its kind in New York City, specifically designed to meet the needs, interests and concerns of children left behind by parents serving time in prison.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Administration Internship role will be to assist the CPNYC Senior Management with day-to-day responsibilities that are crucial to the agency. The Intern will be required to engage with employees at various levels of the organization and will serve as a valuable resource to employees with questions or concerns. This is a paid internship which offers hands-on involvement in all aspects of the organization.
This internship experience will allow individuals to apply the knowledge and skills learned in the classroom to real-world experiences. This internship opportunity is a great way to gain exposure to core functions within a non-profit organization.



Responsibilities

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Conduct a variety of general administrative and/or program tasks as assigned
• Assist with processing mail, data entry and office management requests
• Work with various department managers and employees on assigned tasks and projects
• Assist in improving administration and/or program procedures
• Train and orient new interns in general office procedures
• Greet visitors, parents and the general public alike; answer and route phone calls
•Other duties and special projects as assigned

Requirements

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EXPERIENCE:
•Junior/Senior in college. New grads are welcome to apply
•Agree to maintain strict confidentiality on all information related CPNYC
•Applicable coursework or work/intern experience
•Passionate about non-profit and willingness to learn
•Self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
•Strong verbal and written communication skills
•Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel required)
•Sense of humor and collegiality
•Must be able to commit to 25 hours per week/Tuesday - Friday
