Description

The External Communication Intern will serve an integral role in supporting the Communication Department in promoting awareness and amplifying Assurant’s story to key stakeholders. The intern will serve an important role in developing editorial content for the organization and support the day-to-day external communication activities of the department.

Responsibilities

Assist in the implementation of Assurant external communication initiatives.
Develop, write, edit and proof communications materials, including web stories, social media posts and other content as needed.
Promote and raise awareness of Assurant CSR activities on social media.
Assist in social media tracking/listening and community engagement/interaction.
Assist in the generation of infographics, including gathering of source documents, background research, fact checking, etc.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications:
Current Junior or Senior-level college student working towards a Bachelor’s Degree– prefer focus in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or English. Will also consider Senior-level college student pursuing Master's Degree
Strong writing skills (writing samples required)
Experience using social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn)
Other Qualifications:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to prioritize and juggle numerous projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrates respect, honesty, consistency, confidentiality and fairness when interacting with colleagues, clients, business partners and other stakeholders
Professional standards of attendance and office conduct
Interest in pursuing a Communications and/or Public Relations career
Preferred Qualifications:
Interest in learning and building a portfolio of work while in college.
Demonstrates respect, honesty, consistency, confidentiality and fairness when interacting with colleagues, clients, business partners and other stakeholders.
