Tikkun's internships are an excellent opportunity for students and recent graduates to gain significant experience in magazine editing, image research, reviewing submissions, and proofing. Interns can choose to specialize in any of the following areas: print editorial, art and image research, web editorial, outreach/publicity, social networking, web analytics, rebuilding our online archive, or the publishing business side. Most internships last a minimum of three months, and we generally ask for a minimum of 15-20 hours per week. We are currently seeking interns for the Spring 2015 semester (ideally starting in late January and running through June), Summer 2015, and Fall 2015.

Tikkun Magazine offers a quarterly critique of politics, spirituality, and culture and is based in Berkeley, California, near the downtown BART stop. It covers the intersection of politics and religion in the public sphere, paying special attention to the work of spiritual progressives and the "Religious Left."

To get a better sense of Tikkun, visit our blog (www.tikkun.org/daily) and our main site (www.tikkun.org). Tikkun is a nonprofit organization, and its structured volunteer positions provide a unique educational opportunity.

The skills that this internship will provide are particularly well suited toward someone who is interested in building a career in non-profit management, development, or a related field. The operations and development intern will work closely with our operations and development manager to interface daily with our subscribers, members, and broader community of supporters. Duties will include database work, building and cleaning up lists, researching grants, event planning, and general support for Tikkun's development work and playing a key role in building Tikkun magazine's readership, influence, and supporter network.

The operations and development intern will help lead Tikkun's grassroots fundraising initiatives, conduct prospect research on individual, foundation, and corporate donors, assist online and direct mail for fundraising campaigns and subscription renewals, assist in the planning and execution of organizational special events, and offer support in event planning and communication for young adult outreach efforts. The intern will also conduct outreach to bookstores, libraries, and other institutions, assist in expanding online and print advertisement sales, assist the director of the Network of Spiritual Progressives with membership outreach, and help to draft membership newsletters and event invitations.
