Description

New York Harm Reduction Educators (NYHRE) is a grass-roots organization that recognizes the historical, structural, socio-economic and environmental inequalities that foster adverse outcomes among people who use drugs or engage in sex work, particularly those from communities of color. As a result, NYHRE vigorously advocates for social justice and strives to redress these disparities by providing the resources, tools, and support people need to enhance the quality of their lives - and live with dignity.




In this role, you will work with the Operations manager to complete independent projects and/or provide support in the areas of human resources, data and daily organizational operations.

Hours and focus of work are flexible, however, a commitment of roughly 10 - 15 hours per week.

Responsibilities:

Data entry, filing, spreadsheet management
Assist in updating personnel files
Assist in compliance with applicable government requirements as needed
Supply inventory and ordering
Provide general administrative assistance when necessary
Assist in employee benefits issues related to plan renewal and open enrollment, benefits enrollment and termination, troubleshooting employee benefits issues
Assist with New Hire Orientation, etc. and act as backup as needed

Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required of Intern:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Attention to detail
Ability to work in a deadline sensitive environment
Ability to take initiative and work independently
Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook); knowledge of office 365 a plus

Requirements

Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook); knowledge of SharePoint a plus
Some Basic IT Trouble shooting
Culturally Aware
Interested in learning how a Harm Reduction Agency works from the inside out and how that affects the community and politics
