DescriptionStrider is the nation's first SFV lab (safety-from-violence). We are essentially a crime lab with former detectives except that we look at violence and how it happens with limited regard to the actual crimes. Our first book is focused on safety-from-violence for women and it will be published this summer.
We are looking for an intern to assist in the startup of this business. Specifically, you will:
help to build out the lab (location must be kept confidential)
do research on violence crimes
help with administration
coordinate survey and interview responses
assist with cases
participate in investigations (depending on skill and desire)
assist the Director and the Office Manager
run errands / misc. activities
book keeping (if you have the skills)
This is a great internship for someone interested in women's issues, law enforcement, intelligence, security, or who just wants to learn the latest safety techniques. It would also be fun for someone who likes to manage an office or have many different tasks on a daily basis. This internship could turn into a full-time job and maybe even a career.
ResponsibilitiesWork in an off-site (hidden) crime lab, fixing up the lab, monitoring and gather research, participating in investigative work, supporting the team's leaders.
We have not announced our work publicly yet and so continue to be under-the-radar. However, our first book will be launched soon and that's going to change everything.
RequirementsRelevant experience is not required. Strider is creating a whole new paradigm and so an open-mind is important. We are open to any kind of individual but most of us are former cops, special forces, single Moms (the real ass-kickers), and MBA's. If you have any similar experience, that suggests you might fit in here.
Most important is this:
a. you can adopt a mission-oriented work style: the CEO, COO, or Office Manager will give you an assignment, and then you do it to the best of your ability with as little help as possible and report back with the results. If you haven't worked like this, it will help you if you are planning to join the military or law enforcement. We have a can-do approach here and want you to be the same.
b. you show up on time and are 100% reliable (or at least 99%). if you tell us you will do something, then you do it. If this sounds obvious to you - great, you're the person we need.
c. you keep our work confidential
d. you want to be part of something that might change the world. our goal is to make 1M women safe.
If you become part of our team, and if you do your work with honor and dedication, you will be part of our team forever.
