DescriptionStraightForward Interactive has been one of the world's premier SEM agencies since its founding in 2001. We are seeking interns who would like to learn to manage Google Adwords from the best in the world. (It's not bragging if you back it up).
You'll work in our nonprofit division, which is our fastest-growing area. We manage Google Adwords accounts for a great deal of nonprofits all over the world. One of our clients rescues starving and beaten street dogs in Romania. Another purchases land parcels for African women to farm and develop to feed their families. Another sells handcrafted purses and dolls made by rescued Kenyan prostitutes, and the proceeds go toward rebuilding their lives. Those are just three of dozens of charities we work with & we're adding more each week.
It's fun, fulfilling work. There is no advertising job you'll have that makes you feel better at both the beginning and the end of the day than this one. You'll work remotely from wherever you choose. We will train you virtually and by phone.
Our standard is high, and the job is not easy. It requires a broader set of skills than any other advertising and marketing job. The ideal candidate has a keen understanding of human psychology, is comfortable with math and statistics and finance (not rocket science level or anything, but the basics), and of course is a strong and concise creative writer (Google ads are very short). An understanding of what scripts and coding can do is also very valuable (not knowing how to code, mind you -- you don't need to know that -- but the more aware and creative you are about what automation can do, the better). Creativity is essential in all of these areas. It is an incredible bonus if you have native fluency in a language other than English.
We value people who are enterprising and ambitious. People who are motivated to succeed because they hate to fail. The type of people who start attacking problems on their own because they want to, not just because they're asked to. Don't get us wrong -- we fail at things all the time. It's the most effective form of learning. But that doesn't mean we enjoy it.
If you are an advertising/marketing/PR person who dreams of jet-setting around the country and the world, making elaborate pitches in fabulous-looking business clothes, wining and dining clients like a 21st century version of Mad Men -- this is not the job for you. That's not our world.
Our world is producing results for our clients faster and more cost-effectively than any other medium, 24/7. Our nonprofit division manages $10,000/month Google advertising grants, and it's your job to effectively spend the money and report on the results.
ResponsibilitiesYou will manage Google Adwords accounts for our growing roster of nonprofit clients. This includes: keyword research, bidding and idea generation; ad copywriting, A/B testing, and active management of performance and budgets.
If you succeed and become a solid Google Adwords manager, your employment prospects upon graduation skyrocket, and you are all but assured a job. Good Adwords managers are hard to find, and if you succeed with us, you will be among the best and most employable when you enter the job market full-time.
RequirementsNo particular degree or course of study is required. The above job description sums it up pretty well. If you already have a familiarity with Google Adwords, this would be a tremendous advantage in your application. We checked some boxes on the "Skills" section below because we had to, but there is no "must have" box to check other than what we list above in the description of the internship.
