Made In Space is looking for a highly-talented Materials Engineer intern with a particular strength in aerospace and/or additive manufacturing background to join our team.

Responsibilities

JOB OVERVIEW

The daily tasks include:

+ Material/process specification and data development for the design, manufacture and certification of hardware.

+ Research and development functions on materials to be manufactured in space (thermal vac/radiation env.)

+ Developing new or improved materials/processes/fabrication and assembly techniques

Requirements

PREFERRED SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXPERIENCE

+ Experience with a broad range of materials (metal alloys, thermopolymers, composites, etc.)

+ Pursuing BS, MS or PhD preferred in Materials Engineering, Materials Science, or related field

+ Knowledge in methods of manufacturing: Machining, Casting, Vacuum forming, Injection molding, Composite materials, etc.

+ Demonstrated design knowledge/understanding in CAD and related engineering

+ Development of advanced materials a plus

+ Knowledge and demonstrated use of 3D printing technology a very big plus (particularly with a materials focus)

+ Technical report writing, proposal writing, documentation skill set

+ Must be willing to work significant overtime when necessary
