DescriptionPeaceful Pastures has a herd of 8 horses, all of which are handled, ridden and trained using Natural Horsemanship. Our main objectives are for our horses to have a strong foundation for any discipline from ranch horse to carriage driving.
Our internships are hands on and "horse intensive"; there are no stalls to clean nor lessons to give, but instead plenty of learning (human), ground work (extensive), ground driving and (some) riding. This opportunity is prime for a seasoned rider who wishes to accelerate their learning and experience.
ResponsibilitiesGround work, riding and herd management for 8 horses. Ground work and riding are directed and supervised.
RequirementsYou MUST be: at least 18 years old; able to repeatedly lift and carry 50 pounds; drug, alcohol and tobacco free; have a drivers license, reliable transportation, and follow a basic dress code.
In addition successful applicants will demonstrate a helpful, “can do” mindset and be capable of working steadily with minimal supervision. You need a teachable attitude and realistic expectations
An experienced rider that is height/weight proportionate that is willing to devote themselves to natural horsemanship for the term of the internship. You’ll be in the saddle or on your feet all week so you should be physically fit and capable of doing the job. You need a confident, independent seat and quiet, steady hands. You must also have the emotional fitness necessary to work with both unstarted and green horses outside of an arena.
This position REQUIRES background in/knowledge of Natural Horsemanship.
