Description

Natural Wonders Farm located in Prescott, Arizona was created in 2012 to provide local consumers of fresh vegetable produce and fresh worm castings and to contribute to the local food movement in products, education and innovation. We grow vegetables in both traditional soil environment and in a hydroponic greenhouse. We also are a worm farm and provide worm castings and redworms to the public.

Responsibilities

Interns can expect to:

To engage in hard work and physical activity, regardless of weather.
Drive a truck and pick up food for the worms (manure)
Feed, maintain, and harvest the worm beds.
Plant, grow, and harvest vegetables in both the hydroponic towers and soil.
Weeding, fertilizing, and maintaining vegetables.
Participating and the Farmers Market Sales
Preparing vegetables for farmers markets, CSA, grocery store and restaurant sales.
Measuring and record keeping of crop growing, vermiculture projects.
Study and apply sustainable agricultural practices.
Persoanl upkeep and maintenance.
All interns are required to understand and agree to the internship agreement.

Requirements

Work/Experienced Desired: Since the intent of the internship is to pass along knowledge we do not have specific experience requirements. We do give preference to those with farming/agriculture or organic production background or those pursuing that career/lifestyle.

Applicants must be highly motivated, independent workers in good physical condition (able to lift 50 pounds), have a sincere desire to learn about sustainable farming and vermiculture. This is a hands on internship. You will get dirty every day!
