There are two school sites with available internships. Renaissance and Natural Bridges High Schools. Both are located in Santa Cruz County. Renaissance High School is a continuation school that serves the Pajaro Valley Unified School District and is located in La Selva Beach, near Watsonville. Natural Bridges High School - Green Careers Center is located on the westside of Santa Cruz on Swift St.

Both sites have a 0.25 acre farm/garden space and greenhouse where vegetables, herbs, flowers and fruit are grown and propagated organically. Our outdoor garden classroom is run and maintained by two Agricultural Prodution courses on campus.

Interns would learn the foundations of organic agriculture by working in the farm and garden space on topics such as propagation, composting, vermiculture, and small orchard management. In addition, interns can also have the opportunity to work in the academic classroom and learn about farm to fork education and the horticulture and agronomic science curriculum. There is flexibility as to how much contact you would like to have with the students – anywhere from no contact to even teaching a class or two.

Regardless of interest or focus of internship, all interns are required to work in the garden a minimum number of hours per week to help with general maintenece tasks such as composting, propagation, greenhouse upkeep, etc.

Horticulture or agronomy experience a plus but not required. We are seeking motivated, self-directed people who love to dig in the dirt!

Required - Highly motivated self-starter, Dedicated
