DescriptionFall Update : After a successful season, we are opening unique internship opportunities for both live-in and offsite candidates. Our focus through winter will be developing creating revenue streams in various areas to help sustain the farm entirely from within, planning for our 2016 CSA kick off, creation and maintenance of the growing systems and everything else permafarm related! The internship is designed to provide the possibility of paid positions upon successful completion of the program.
Thank you for checking out The Farm On 277th. We are an upstart Permaculture-based CSA in the mid stage of development currently preparing for the 2016 season. This is a six acre farm with goals of future expansion.
Many projects in need of attention include prepping, planting and harvesting produce, bee keeping development, food forest development, building and populating additional growing systems (mostly hugel mounds), gray water collection and filtering, rocket mass stove development, alternative energy development, chicken and egg production, livestock planning and procurement, cob building for internship housing, beautification and readying for tours and mulching, mulching. mulching!. We currently have chickens, ducks, hogs and rabbits – and we will be harvesting some of them for meat.
The area around the farm is replete with outdoor activities ranging from water sports on Puget Sound and the Green River with tremendous hiking, camping, fishing and more. Seattle and Tacoma are minutes away with big-city living at its best. Quaint towns adorn the day trip to nearby Mount Rainier offering small-town charm. The farm has a priceless view of Mount Rainier as well.
The ability to help design, build and enjoy this permaculture farm and to recreate in the surrounding area makes this a great opportunity to learn, teach and grow. The current facilities for interns are expanding and include a 25′ converted shipping container, ongoing development of three separate rooms in a trailer, An available room in the farm house, camping and other simple housing, but, materials are onsite to build cob cabins and furnish them with items made with reclaimed materials.
So, if you are interested in The Farm On 277th – please, relate to us how you think it would benefit all if you are part of our team to help achieve our goal as a permaculture CSA farm and educational, enjoyable destination. Also, you might include what we will need to bring to the table to aid in our mutual success. Preference is always given to those who have actually taken the time to read our profile and to those with passion for organic farming and living.
