18th Street Arts Center is the largest artist residency program in Southern California. We host 30+ international artists a year, and have 20 local artists and organizations on our campus. We are a small staff, and consistently need enthusiastic arts-lovers to help us support artists and provoke public dialogue!

REPORTS TO: Director of Development

TIME COMMITMENT: Minimum 3-month commitment of 10 hours per week. Schedule is flexible.

LOCATION: Santa Monica, CA. Partial telecommuting.

COMPENSATION: Volunteer. College credit possible; check with your academic advisor to make arrangements

JOB OVERVIEW: Under the supervision of the Director of Development, the Development Intern will assist with 18th Street Arts Center’s fundraising events, communications, and database management. The internship provides an excellent opportunity to learn about fundraising and donor relations in the arts and nonprofit organizations. The intern will assist with the planning and organizing of fundraising events and communications – including VIP roundtables and donor receptions. The Development Intern will have a primary role in assisting in updating and maintaining the currency of information in our constituent database, updating records, generating reports, and uploading data– utilizing the NationBuilder platform, assisting with donor prospect research, including assembling biographical sketches in preparation for meetings and events. This is a core responsibility of this position.Training on the NationBuilder system will be provided.

Must be highly detailed and organized with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency with database systems preferred. Experience with annual fund, alumni, or donor programs a plus.

This position will provide exposure to all facets of 18th Street Arts Center, through collaborative projects with the Communications, Artist and Exhibition, and Operational staff. The internship will be engaged with our global artists and programs as a member of our Development team.
