DescriptionDo you believe in learning through making? Houston Makerspace is installing a large co-working, craft workspace in Houston, Texas providing makers of all skill levels with access to a woodshop, metal shop, commercial kitchen, rapid prototyping, textiles/sewing studio, screenprinting, jewelry making, classes and workshops, offices/studios and so much more!
We are seeking interns with creativity and drive to join the Houston Makerspace team, interns who communicate confidently and demonstrate the ability to take initiative and leadership on individual or group projects. The idea behind this internship is not to get boxed into one set project, but to encourage each individual to use his or her strengths innovatively, bringing unique passion, knowledge, or expertise to the team. Interns will work closely with the creator of Houston Makerspace towards individual and specialized goals. Interns will work unpaid for a ninety day trial period, after which a review will be conducted for a possible paid position within the company.

ResponsibilitiesCoordinating and planning creative workshops
Researching city planning and permit policy for small business
Grant research and writing
Social media outreach, including contributing to weekly blog
Desire to participate in networking events and craft markets
RequirementsMust be able to meet a 10 hour weekly time commitment
Relevant college coursework in creative, public relations, entrepreneurship or communications background
Self-motivated to work both individually and on a team
