Tierra Fine Arts Programs

At Tierra del Sol Fine Arts, artists demonstrate that creativity and artistic expression are not limited by physical and intellectual challenges. Our programs cultivate artistic expression so that all people can develop creatively and be recognized as cultural producers, community leaders and professional artists.

Internship Description:

We are looking for someone who has a passion for art and social justice, is self-motivated, can work independently or collaboratively, and is able to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced, expanding environment.

Arts Management Intern assists in the following areas: arts and gallery management, arts education workshops, graphic design and production, curatorial strategies, special events planning, marketing and promotion, grant research and development.

Studio Arts Instruction and Art Education Intern assists individuals with skills toward their chosen professional career path in the arts. Studio Arts Interns, under the guidance of a professional art instructor, work directly with individuals in the art studio to develop professional practices applied through art production, portfolio preparation, marketing strategies, and exhibition development. The Intern supports individual learning methods that foster creativity and artistic expression. Interns may also assist with art events, installation, and exhibition of art works.

Art Education Interns also assist in preparing educational materials and classroom organization tasks and to facilitate self- advocacy and choice making opportunities.

Case Management Interns assist with Case Management, filing records, preparing materials for interactive meetings and coordinating communications for human service supports.

Compensation. Tierra offers both paid and unpaid internships. This internship is unpaid and compensated with skills development, acquisition of knowledge, and/or course credit from a college or university. This internship does not include

Responsibilities

Studio Internships: Work directly with clients in the art studio led by a professional instructor.
Develop professional practices applied through portfolio preparation, marketing strategies, and exhibition development.
Support individual learning programs that foster creativity and artistic expression.
Assist with art events, installation, and exhibition of art works.
Assist in preparing educational materials and classroom organization tasks.
Facilitate client self- advocacy and choice making opportunities.
Gallery Internship: Assisting with all aspects of Professional Art Gallery Management
Case Management Internship: Assisting with Case Management, filing records, preparing materials for interactive meetings and coordinating communications for human service supports.

Requirements

Interns with the Tierra del Sol Foundation are advocates for Arts, social justice and creativity by serving developmentally diverse artists while receiving training in Arts & Gallery Management, Arts Education and Art Instruction, Graphic Design and Production, Special Events Planning, Curatorial Strategies, Marketing and Development, Grant Research, and Case Management for Social Services.

The intern is expected to commitment to a weekly set schedule, working 3 to 6 months, depending upon college credit requirements, with a minimum of 100 hours. Our Internship hours vary within the hours of 9am to 5pm, Monday thru Friday.

All Interns are required to be enrolled in an accredited university and complete and pass background check and TB test, both provided by The First Street Arts Gallery Center .
