DescriptionNon-profit arts center seeks interns and volunteers to provide administrative support, gallery supervision, and event coverage for a line-up of winter and spring shows.
The WAH Center open hours are 12-6 PM Fridays-Sundays and interns customarily commit to 1-2 days per week. Applicant must be flexible and may be asked to work additional hours during installation and de-installation periods of fine art exhibitions, as well as events such as opening receptions, artist’s talks, and musical programmes.
The ideal candidate must be organized, detail-oriented, honest, and reliable with positive energy, a passion for the arts, enthusiasm to learn, and a sense of humor. Interns will be exposed to all aspects of a non-profit arts center, and will be invited to take on larger projects as required. Experience with Mac and PC computers, Microsoft Office, Photoshop, as well as an interest in the arts, specifically contemporary, are a plus. Students interested in receiving school credit for the internship can make arrangements to do so.
Please look at our website www.wahcenter.net to acquaint yourself with the WAH Center mission and exhibitions. This is a part-time, unpaid internship and is a great opportunity to experience the inner-workings of an art non-profit.
Please send a resume with cover letter to email@example.com, and tell us why you are interested in the internship.
About the WAH Center:
In late October 1996, Yuko Nii founded the non-profit The WAH Center (Williamsburg Art & Historical Center) based upon her Bridge Concept. That concept envisions a multifaceted, multicultural art center whose mission is to coalesce the diverse artistic community, and create a bridge between local, national and international artists, emerging and established artists, and artists of all disciplines. Thus through the international language of art we come to understand each other to create a more peaceful and integrated world. The WAH Center is a force for peace and understanding and it's concept is incorporated in its acronym: “WAH” in Japanese means “peace” or “harmony” or “unity.”
