Description

Royale Projects : Contemporary Art (established 2008) focuses on the history and continuing advancement of abstraction in painting and sculpture from the West Coast of North America as well as on leading edge artists that find their roots in Conceptualism while revering the significance of the art object.

Royale Projects maintains locations in two distinct Southern California geographies. The Los Angeles space is positioned in the heart of the city’s burgeoning downtown art scene and the gallery in Palm Desert continues to serve as a hub for the greater Coachella Valley region, including Palm Springs and Joshua Tree.

Royale projects contemporary art offers unpaid 3-month internships throughout the year for up to 15-18 hours per week, available at both its new Los Angeles gallery and its Palm Desert location in the Coachella Valley.


Responsibilities

Under the guidance of the owners and gallery director, the intern participates widely in a variety of core functions of the gallery, including but not limited to daily gallery operations, planning of gallery events, art fair participation, working with artists, database management, data entry, artist + art research, installation, inventory, running errands, social media coordination and general gallery maintenance. Other areas of focus and activity for internship:
Supporting outreach efforts with the public, media contacts, collectors, + artists

Assist with the gallery’s inventory tracking + database management

Initiate and update artwork pricelists and inventory checklists

Assist with the planning + execution of special gallery events

Help maintain online presence with the gallery’s social media + website, along with posting to other online calendar pages for events

Assist with the research and coordination of gallery exhibitions + installations

Help compile forms, images and pertinent information for art fair application processes

Participate in the curating + installation process of creating exhibitions

Serve as a liaison between the public and the owners

Requirements

Preferred Majors + Education Backgrounds: Studio Art, Art History, Communications, Business, Marketing, Museum Studies and/or Hospitality

Intern candidates must reflect:
a strong interest and passion for art; must demonstrate active involvement in the art community
knowledge of MS Office Suite; Adobe Photoshop and FileMaker Pro skills are also a plus
demonstrate good written and verbal communication
attention to detail and balanced multi-tasking skills

Skills

Required - Administrative Capabilities, Art History, Able To Multi-task
Preferred - Microsoft Office, Filemaker Pro
