DescriptionAll Along the Watchtower is a temporary public art installation, which adds light and cast shadows along the pathways and fencing of Marcus Garvey Park, a historic Harlem park. By using reflective safety tape we are symbolizing the new energy that the park is attracting. The artist will place reflective strips along the fencing that will also serve as directional signs leading people on a trail throughout the park and then finally to the Acropolis. The design on top of the Acropolis pays homage to the fire tower itself. Long white light strips will wrap around that fence offering a circular, 360 degree view.
The West Harlem Art Fund, Inc. is an eighteen year old, public arts organization. WHAF offers exhibition opportunities for artists and creative professionals wishing to share their talent with art lovers uptown and around the city. The West Harlem Art Fund, Inc. showcases art and culture in open, public spaces to add aesthetic interest to our city; promote historical and cultural heritage; link collectors to a range of new provocative works and antiquities.
