Cutting-Edge Biotech Scientific Description Internship (College Grad, Post-Bac, M.S. / Ph.D)Bookmark This
DescriptionAssay Depot is an outsourcing marketplace for life science research services. Our mission is to make research outsourcing more accessible and useful to the research scientist and, in so doing, dramatically improve the way scientific breakthroughs from diagnostics to therapeutics are made. We are a biotech company that offers a cloud based online marketplace, who is looking for 3-4 interns for the spring and summer. Our company connects scientists in academia and pharmaceutical companies with 1500+ small research companies who provide custom tools and services. College Grads, Post-Bac, MS/Ph.D interns will have the opportunity to work with a a small intern team and with guidance of an experienced group leader they will contribute to a specific project aimed at developing the content on our marketplace and relationships with our customers/providers.
ResponsibilitiesCollege Grads, Post-Bac, MS/Ph.D interns will have the opportunity to become familiar with the biotech industry and the future of scientific research i.e. contracting out research experiments. As the science as a service industry expands and becomes the norm, various types of common/cutting-edge services and technologies will be outsourced rather than conducted in-house. Assay Depot is the marketplace that connects scientists with these service providers. We are looking for graduate level students to help map out these services, identify key service providers and write descriptions of these experiments. This position requires a base scientific acumen or an interest in learning/researching cutting-edge technologies. In time, interns will have the opportunity to speak with high-level vendor executives at prospective biotechnology clients. As a whole, this experience serves as a good foundation of what it is like to work in the biotechnology industry.
The internships are initially unpaid, but we have a track record of hiring/paying interns that demonstrate the qualities we are looking for; notably self-starters, enthusiastic, eye for detail, and a willingness to learn new tools. If desired, we can accommodate for college credits to be earned. The number of hours worked can fluctuate, but we are generally looking for a minimum commitment of 15 hours/week. We have interns working between 15-40; this can be a full-time summer internship as well.
