STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES: The Volunteer, in the Educational Outreach Program provides assistance to the Gateways Internship Program (GIP) Coordinator. The Volunteer will be required to effectively manage, coordinate and monitor the recruitment, assessment, selection and placement processes for new Student Professional Workers and Volunteers entering into the internship program at Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA). This position requires the ability to productively interface with youth and multiple agencies through effective communication in both verbal and written arenas.
Volunteer activities include developing worksite positions, with Los Angeles World Airports’ employees, coordinating and managing payroll logistics, prepare statistical reports for elected officials and LAWA executives. The Volunteer coordinates and manages recruitment and placement of Student Professional Worker I’s, Student Professional Worker II’s, Volunteers and International Students by connecting with various colleges and university internship programs. Assist with the preparation of materials that is disseminated at community job fairs and college job fairs, as well as attends job fairs to assist with recruitment efforts. Assist with the development of materials marketed to youth organizations and provides assistance with coordination of intern interviews for job placement.
Assist in the development and maintenance of internship databases; assist in the evaluation of administrative processes and practices, resolving work related issues with interns.
Represent the Education Outreach Program at community outreach events and LAWA
Sponsored program events, assist in the coordination of preparation and execution of presentations to executive management, local schools, businesses, officials, and community members.
Volunteers must be able to make a minimum of 4 month commitment to the GIP and must be able to work at least 10 hours per week, 2 days per week. Please note that the selection and hiring process usually takes about 4-6 weeks for an internship with the GIP.
