DescriptionThe Hispanic Business Initiative Fund (HBIF) is seeking interns for the SPRING 2015 semesters. HBIF is the leading Hispanic nonprofit economic development organization in Florida that specializes in providing free bilingual assistance to Hispanic entrepreneurs establishing or expanding their business. The organization offers business-consulting services to Hispanic entrepreneurs in Florida and most of the work involved is business related. HBIF strives to provide a professional learning environment for students seeking an internship.
ResponsibilitiesThe intern will shadow a business development specialist in the process of counseling clients and attend networking sessions of key community partner organizations. Other responsibilities will include client service, developing quarterly business reports, event planning and coordination, conducting research, managing a client relationship database, assisting with general office duties and helping develop marketing materials.
Requirements- Student must be working toward a major in marketing, communications, business or a related field.
- Student must be bilingual (English/Spanish) since the organization’s clientele is predominantly Hispanic. There will be many instances in which proper Spanish is necessary during client meetings, orientation sessions and telephone interviews. Fluency in Portuguese a bonus.
- Computer skills: proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Publisher and Power Point. Proficiency in Photo Shop a plus.
- The student must have a strong attention to detail.
