Always be on the alert for potentially fraudulent job postings online - never send money to a potential employer.
DescriptionAs a statewide chamber of commerce, our volunteers have the ability to work in either the Richmond or Vienna office. The volunteer will be introduced to all areas of business development but will primarily assist with members and business owners. The volunteer is responsible for administrative duties and knowledge retention of business issues related to the business development center. Volunteers will maintain reports related to center utilization and equipment issues for future use by the organization.
Potential volunteers should have solid skills in interpersonal communication and organization. An ideal candidate will multitask well, adapt successfully to interruptions, and work independently (limited direct supervision). Volunteers may be responsible for the following:
• Personably and professionally engaging and assisting participants utilizing the center resources.
• Effectively communicate, written and verbally, with members, staff and public.
• Competently utilize installed software. Performance targets related to center
• Conscientiously submit center reports and discuss them regularly with Engagement
• Provide receptionist and online research duties as needed.
• Actively participate in routine meetings that include providing input to organizational
operations and procedures.
Additional responsibilities will be based on the volunteer's skill and qualifications and assigned by the Engagement Coordinator.
ResponsibilitiesThis provides an opportunity to develop a variety of skills, including interpersonal communication, (limited) software training, and business operation. Additionally, volunteers will be encouraged to assist in brainstorming activities based on their knowledge of center usage. Other benefits include: ongoing support from Engagement Coordinator – beginning with an orientation and training, written references for those who complete their commitment, academic credit (if available – intern must arrange before accepting assignment), and use of your skills in a unique and rewarding way – directly helping others!
