DescriptionThe Rival is an online commentary and satire publication run by students, for students at select universities across the nation. We focus on locality because each campus has a unique audience with unique wants and needs.
The purpose of the Business Developer position is to reach out to local businesses frequented by students or new to the area and sell sponsored content space. By selling sponsored content, you will make commission from every sale and create revenue for the rest of The Rival at your school. This will enable them to purchase marketing materials, merchandise, and supplies for events. The end goal is to create a satisfying experience for businesses to ensure they will continue to advertise with us.
With this position you can earn up to 15% commission on each sale made.

University of Maryland
George Washington University
University of Miami
New York University
College of Charleston
University of Rochester
University of Wisconsin
Responsibilities- Attend meetings with your local Rival chapter's editorial team (usually bi-weekly)
- Establish relationships with writers and editors
- Create creative pitches to local business tailored to their specific needs
- Our goal is to sell 8 sponsored content articles each month (on average, 2/week)
Requirements- Current college student attending one of our Rival campuses
- Enthusiastic, outgoing and confident to talk to business owners and negotiate
- Looking to gain valuable experience in sales, native marketing, user acquisition and customer retention
