Description

**To Apply for this position: Send a cover letter and resume to Ellie Parrish at eparrish@americanforests.org**

We protect and preserve forests.

American Forests, the first national nonprofit conservation organization in the country, advocates for the protection and expansion of America’s forests. Since 1990, we have planted more than 50 million trees. We restore watersheds to help provide clean drinking water. We replant forests destroyed by human action and by natural disasters. Our mission is to restore threatened forest ecosystems and inspire people to value and protect urban and wildland forests.

Individual Giving Internship

The Office of Individual Giving is responsible for finding private funds to support American Forests’ programs, research, and conservation efforts throughout the United States and abroad. The office works locally and nationally to support American Forests’ mission and vision, and towards the fulfillment of the objectives outlined in the Strategic Plan. The Office of Individual Giving is constantly expanding its donor base of individuals, and throughout the year the office creates and sends out letters of inquiry and proposals to solicit funding for various projects, programs, and other operating needs. In addition, the office maintains and strives to increase various giving programs.

In this position, the intern will have the chance to learn about the behind-the-scenes components of non-profit fundraising. Our department works with a range of other departments, from Information Technology to Communications, so the intern will have the opportunity to experience many sides of working for a conservation organization.
