Description1st Choice has an opening for a Junior Chemist for one of our federal clients in Washington, DC.
The Junior Chemist will support several program projects for the Forensics Services Division including the Forensic Information System for Handwriting (FISH) project, the Questioned Identification Documents database (QID), the Watermark database, Live-Scan and Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) projects, and FSD evidence vault operations
The project programs will allow the candidate the opportunity for developmental and career experience in a variety of specialized skill sets.
The individual selected must be working towards or have obtained an undergraduate degree in a physical science discipline (e.g., chemistry).
The position we are seeking to fill will involve working in a laboratory with chemicals, using sophisticated instrumentation (e.g., Fourier transform infrared spectrometer, scanning electron microscope) and performing experimental research.
Having an interest in Law Enforcement is a plus.
All candidates must be U.S. citizens, and must undergo a security background check.
