Description

Estimators collect and analyze data and construction drawings in order to estimate the time, money, materials and labor required for construction projects. Estimators are also required to regularly interact with potential subcontractors, suppliers and minority business enterprises.

McLean Contracting Company is a heavy marine construction company founded in 1903 by Colin McLean.

Responsibilities

Estimators must be able to read and interpret drawings and specifications.

Must have ability to perform and be proficient in geometrical and mathematical calculations.

Must have knowledge of basic computer systems and software.

Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Must be able to work within a team concept with other estimators in the preparation of a bid.

Able to enter quantities into our Heavy Bid Estimating System.

Perform quantity surveys on various bid teams as required and checks pay quantities on unit price items.

Assists in the planning, scheduling and pricing of the bid.

Represents McLean Contracting Company in an ethical and professional manner.

Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are a representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

It is desirable for Estimators to have earned a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Civil Engineering Technology.
