DescriptionSpecial Olympics Kansas is a not for profit organization dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities to become physically fit, productive and respected members of society through sports competition, health and nutrition programs, and leadership development. Offering year-round initiatives to children and adults with intellectual disabilities, Special Olympics Kansas is a platform for acceptance and inclusion as well as one of the largest advocates for healthy lifestyles in the state - regardless of race, religion, ethnicity or cultural differences.
ResponsibilitiesInterns are required to work in the SOKS office in Mission Kansas. Interns will assist with marketing/communications needed for state competitions, special events, healthy athlete initiatives and/or charity events. This may include, but is not limited to graphic design as needed, promotional flyers/brochures, research, athlete profiles, media releases and social networking.
PRIMARY DUTIES MAY INCLUDE:
> Write and deploy press releases
> Design work in Adobe CS4 suite (preferred but not required)
> Interview and write athlete profiles
> Market programs and events
> Assist in creating annual report and/or promotional material
> Work closely with Sr. VP of Communications on media relations
