You will directly contact Clients, Not-for-Profit Leaders and Media. Impeccable Phone and E-mail Communication is mandatory! Excellent Power point presentation skills.
We are looking for two results driven, articulate and fearless news pitchers who can work directly with radio, online, print and television news producers to translate client messaging and book live television, radio, online and print interviews.
Successful applicants must have a demonstrative follow up and be able to communicate clearly and authoritatively.

ResponsibilitiesStudents who are currently attending an accredited college and have achieved sophomore, junior, senior or grad school status are eligible. Interns may work 15-20 hours per week, remotely.

• Very strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• A nice portfolio with successful media hits, articles written, and an existing blog with a positive presence.
• A portfolio of proven solid press release work and media hits.
• Well-organized with strong follow-up and attention to detail.
• Ability to take direction and work independently.
• Knowledge of current events and community engagement, preferred.
• Event and News outreach experience.
• Excellent marketing and research skills.
• Conduct, gather and analyze market research to determine media opportunities and competitiveness.
• Work closely with the CEO to ensure tight integration of all media programs and initiatives.
• Ability to act independently to support programs and initiatives across all company departments.
• Prepare weekly reports.

RequirementsIdeal candidates will be proactive, active members of public relations groups/associations have proven experience with writing a press release, news pitching, communicating with the press and show initiative in addressing the immediate needs of the company.
Intern must have direct access to a computer.
Reporting to the CEO and the Assistant to the CEO, when needed, the Intern is responsible for developing and executing media relations plans in a manner that supports marketing and client support initiatives to increase brand equity and awareness.
The Media Relations Intern will work directly with the Media Department and will be responsible for assisting with executing communications and outreach projects for community initiatives with fast-paced, deadline driven monthly goals.
The Media Relations Intern will help develop messaging; communicate directly with producers and journalists across the country; coordinate bookings and interviews with broadcast producers; and produce television and radio tours.
This Media Relations Intern must be extremely professional, polished and have a keen sensibility about forging strong, collaborative relationships with community leaders and news desks.
Must have a passion for tactical execution, client relations and a team-oriented, collaborative process. Diplomatic, collaborative competitiveness is highly valued.
This is a valuable, hard-charging, ambitious internship for a marketing, public relations, broadcast or journalism student.
Interns will work remotely and in the office. There will be occasional meetings to attend in the metro DC area.
In this position, the interns will work exclusively in news management, events, community engagement and non-profits.
