For over 25 years, Open Hand has empowered individuals throughout the Atlanta community to use nutrition to improve their quality of life. Open Hand helps people prevent or better manage chronic disease through Comprehensive Nutrition Care™, which combines home-delivered meals and nutrition education as a means to reinforce the connection between informed food choices and improved quality of life.

We are looking for an energetic, highly-motivated individual to fill our Volunteer Services Intern position. The intern will provide administrative and staff support while gaining a deeper knowledge of volunteer management and nonprofit operations. This is an unpaid, part-time position for registered college/university students.


Additional Qualifications:
• Exceptional knowledge of Microsoft Office, including word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint (Raiser’s Edge experience a plus but not required)
• Able to multi-task and respond to deadlines
• Ability to work minimum of 16 hours per week
• Self-starter who requires little supervision
• Outgoing demeanor, with the ability to motivate others

• Increase a student's sense of responsibility
• Acquire good work habits
• Enhance multi-tasking skills
• Enhance communication skills
• Learn to use nonprofit software such as The Raiser’s Edge
• Better understanding of Atlanta nonprofit network
• Improve public speaking

• Providing general administrative support to the Open Hand Volunteer Services Department
• Scheduling volunteers and maintaining calendars
• Maintaining a volunteer database
• Assisting in creating and editing documents such as emails, letters, flyers, agendas, and reports
• Facilitating orientations and trainings
• Internet research
• Data Entry
• Execute any other duties as requested
• Must be able to work weekends and holidays
