DescriptionThe Bring Back Main Street Committee is seeking highly-motivated individuals for our Communications Internship Program. We are seeking interns who have an eye for detail, the disposition for research, an ear for tempo and the tolerance for revision over and over again. If you love to write and have ever written speeches or ever desired to do so, we are looking for you. If you are an excellent researcher, creative, considerate, inquisitive, motivated, and reliable we are looking for you.
Our internships are fast-paced, fun, demanding and rewarding. Participants will work directly with candidates and grass roots activist in the exciting world of political organizing campaigning, with opportunities to build their skills in a variety of areas. ResponsibilitiesInterns will participate in every step of the production process, from the solicitation of material to editorial meetings, fact-checking, proofreading, and distribution of information. More regular duties include crafting speeches and creating blog posts based on the platform and policies of the campaign. Task will also include keeping submissions current and relevant.
RequirementsMust have excellent verbal and written communication skills and a high level of computer competency.
We don’t expect interns to have written speeches before, but we do want people who love to write and are excellent researchers; people who are creative, inquisitive, thoughtful, motivated, and dependable.
•Previous journalism experience is a plus but not required. Skilled writers and communicators passionate about liberty are encouraged to apply.
•A journalism major is not necessary. Students from all disciplines, including political science and economics, are welcome.
•The internship is open to undergraduates, graduate students, and recent graduates.
Must be self-motivated, organized, willing to help with any project no matter how large or small and be able to balance multiple priorities at once.
Must have a strong desire to make a difference.
