DescriptionWuqu' Kawoq | Maya Health Alliance is seeking a responsible, organized, self-motivated Communication and Design intern to create and exhibit compelling visual content (photo/video) for our organization. We are looking for someone with the skills to enhace the visual 'face' of our organization, and the ability to share our successes and struggles in a compelling and thought provoking manner.
About Wuqu' Kawoq | Maya Health Alliance:
Wuqu’ Kawoq | Maya Health Alliance is a non-governmental organization dedicated to strengthening health care for indigenous Maya communities in Guatemala. Our mission is premised on our belief that everyone–-no matter where they were born, what language they speak, or how much money they have–-should have the highest quality health care.
Our model consists of the delivery direct medical care services, the promotion of Mayan language and culture, research on issues relevant to indigenous health, and health advocacy. We carry out a total of approximately 20,000 patient visits per year in more than a dozen rural communities in Guatemala.
Over the course of our organization's history, we have had dozens of long-term students work with us in Guatemala, and our prior students generally have had excellent experiences from both a personal and professional perspective. Many students elect to remain involved with our organization after their time in Guatemala concludes.
Please visit our website to learn more about our organization.
We are looking for a motivated, organized leader who wants to be a part of a new model of health care that is saving lives in rural Guatemala.
This individual will accompany our teams in the field while producing engaging visual and written content (photo, video, blog), to document the various work we do daily in rural Guatemala. He or she will manage all social media platforms, collaborate with others to design and oversee fundraising campaigns and events, and create any visual material that must accompany grant proposals, donation opportunities, monthly email blasts, and end of year reports. This individual will also conduct interviews with staff, partners and relevant academics to produce top-notch blog content.
The ideal applicant is willing to commit to at least 6-12 months of in-country work beginning after September 1, 2015.
