Description

Arts-Kids, Inc. is a non-profit in Summit County that offers a unique after-school youth development program that utilizes a variety of artistic mediums to encourage self-awareness and socialization through creative expression for children with diverse backgrounds, ages, special challenges and pressures. With the creative process and small dynamic groups, we promote self-motivation, individuality and self-esteem without a pressure for perfection or finishing a product. The expressive arts help children connect, and acts as a catalyst to open the creative spirit inherent in every child….so that child can thrive into adulthood, resilient and joyful. The mission of Arts-Kids is to provide our youth facing adversity with life skills through an after-school expressive arts program.

Arts-Kids is looking for HIGHLY MOTIVATED, SOCIALLY CONSCIOUS undergraduate, graduate students or recent graduates interested gaining insight and experience in non-profit communications. Interns will have the opportunity to experience the nonprofit world and gain experience building their resume in a creative non-profit organization that offers flexibility and positive and welcoming environment.

Two intern positions available to cover the counties we serve (Summit, Wasatch and Salt Lake Counties)

Compensation: Unpaid, Class credit may be available (student must check with their university)
Schedule: Work hours can be flexible to accommodate a student schedule.

• Spring (March- May) 4-10 hours/week
• Summer (May- August) 16-30 hours/week

Responsibilities

Create and manage communications calendar
• Maintain and update media contact lists and media kit
• Identify and create media opportunities
• Create and distribute email communications, e-newsletters, event promotions, other emails as needed
• Help build and maintain organizations presence on social media and understand best practices
• Web design knowledge, ensuring content is current and user-friendly
• Create/collect new visual content for development and communications purposes (documenting after-school programs by taking pictures)
• Create and manage new content for organization (website, blog, newsletters, social media, etc.)
• Customer service experience a plus

Requirements

What we are looking for:
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Excellent organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail
• Strong internet research skills
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and switch gears quickly
• Must be dependable, independent thinker, proactive, energetic
• Strong knowledge of MS office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Strong layout skills, solid proficiency with InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator

Requirements:
• Prefer Graduate student or undergraduate junior or senior (although not required) in good standing
• Must be able to commit to required hours, however there is great flexibility for students
• May require evenings and weekend
