Internal Communications Intern Description

The Alkermes corporate communications team is looking for a highly-motivated part-time fall intern to support our internal communications program. This position will report to the Associate Director and support internal communications projects, special events and multimedia. We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of the patients we serve by assisting with a broad range of communications activities. The communications intern should have a highly proactive style and be able to multi-task and prioritize assignments. The selected candidate will also provide general day-to-day support as needed. We will provide the internal communications intern with a learning environment that fosters professional growth.

Responsibilities
Develop new, compelling story angles and conduct interviews to create content for company intranet, newsletters and programs
Write and edit articles for posting on company intranet
Provide support for updating and reorganizing intranet content
Assist with the creation of graphics for intranet and signage
Event coordination support for company-wide and/or Waltham-based employee programs
Create and edit presentations and other documents in line with Alkermes’ brand standards
Draft and edit internal company documents and email communications

Requirements

Qualifications
Pursuing a B.A./B.S. degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, or related field
Overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with excellent attention to detail
Proficiency with Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Knowledge of SharePoint and Photoshop / Illustrator a plus
Prior internship experience in the medical/pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry and/or in communications preferred
Ability to interact with all levels of staff in a fast-paced environment
Able to work independently and as part of a team coordinating multiple tasks
Highly motivated and energetic
Ability to maintain highest degree of confidentiality
An interest to be part of an innovative, growing company aimed at transforming the lives of people with serious, chronic conditions, their families, caregivers and society
