DescriptionThe Marketing and Communications Intern is responsible for assisting the Massachusetts chapter with press releases, monthly newsletters, chapter events, social media communications, and other critical projects that may arise. This volunteer position offers the opportunity to gain valuable, hands-on public relations, marketing, communications, special events planning, and fundraising experience. University/college credit is available. All internships are located at the Westborough, MA office, Manchester, NH office, Waterbury, VT office.
Planing and executing a fundraising event from start to finish. Brainstorming event logistics and put plans into motion. Creating a marketing strategy to promote event and gain participants. Learn the role of sponsorship in an event and how to obtain corporate sponsors. Hands on event planning with the opportunity to be a project leader. Assist event managers in creating appropriate materials to promote their events.
Write press releases for the chapter that will be released to media sources.Contribute to chapter’s monthly newsletter. Research competitors to March of Dimes annual events. Compare and contrast this research and organize into presentations. Ensure March of Dimes brand consistency in all communication and marketing materials.
Social Media Marketing
Promote chapter events and news via Facebook and Twitter. Execute marketing plans via social media sites. Use chapter’s Flickr account to create photo albums for each March for Babies event. Create participant surveys using Wufoo.com.
Real World Experince Including
Attending chapter events such as Board Meetings, fundraisers, and kick-off events. Creating materials needed for various chapter events. Working on actual projects that affect the foundation and its fundraising efforts. Collaborate with fellow interns and March of Dimes staff to achieve best results for Chapter.
