Description

Here at KIHOMAC we are looking for a capable, driven software engineering intern. We are an agile shop who, despite being a government contractor, has managed to stay very small. With us you would work on small teams, have direct contact with the client, and have a measurable influence on the end-product. We are looking for well-rounded developers that are capable of working on everything from real-time/embedded systems to modern web applications. We are currently located in the Oak Lawn area but will soon be moving to the North Dallas area (Richardson/Plano).

Responsibilities

Expertise and Functions

• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access) and basic computer functions (email, internet)
• Basic knowledge of, and understanding of software engineering principles
• Design, document, and implement technical designs, using tools like unit tests, design patterns, and object-oriented principles
• Knowledge in and/or willingness to learn and use Ruby on Rails web framework
• Interns will work 15 – 25 hours per week; summer interns will work 40 hours
• Must be willing to accept direction from, and interact professionally with supervisor and co-workers
• Must work with integrity and follow assigned tasks through to completion
• Must follow established company software engineering processes
• Work on software engineering projects as assigned
• May assist with department administrative duties as necessary to learn about the work being performed, and to contribute to completion of department workload
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Education/Training (both required and desired):

o High School diploma or equivalent required
o Must be actively enrolled in, or a recent graduate of, an institution of higher learning


• Experience:

o 0+ years of professional experience in the required task area


• Security:

o Ability to obtain a security clearance may be required (which requires the ability to work in the US without sponsorship now, and in the future)
