The NAMC National Association of Minority Companies Inc. is looking for a few good interns who like to work independently but can function well within a team.

Internship Role Overview

The Web Developer Intern plays a critical front end developer role in the NAMCO organization. The interns should have a passion for web analysis, design, implementation, and testing of operations based work. Interns should have or be in the process of gaining expert knowledge of web content management systems, Templates, applications, file and backend systems. Interns should have should have intermediate level front end development skills. Troubleshooting is a valuable skill set. Interns should be capable of working as an individual contributor on a team and open to learning new technologies. Critical thinking, documentation, communication, project leadership, and pride in work are all skills critical to success in this role.

Internship Eligibility:

•Must be enrolled in a college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall), or have graduated within the last 6 months prior to participation in the internship

Program Length:
The approximate dates of this internship are July 2014 through Sept. 2014. Interns must be fully available for the duration of the internship.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

•Develop Web base application and enhancing existing tools
•Develop tools for automation and testing for frontend and backend.
•Help with testing software/applications

Requirements

Qualifications:

•Currently enrolled in a program at the Junior or Senior level, in Computer Science, Digital Media or related degree
•Experience with front end languages (PHP, JavaScript)
•Experience with CSS and HTML
•Interest in object-oriented programming with an understanding of design principles
•Strong ASP/JSP/PHP or similar experience
•Excellent written and verbal communication
•Excellent teamwork skills and ability to assist other team members in problem-solving
•Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

Ability to be highly flexible to quickly changing business needs and new technologies
•Ability to follow existing programming and style guidelines to maintain consistent website look and feel and consistent quality of code
•Maintains documentation, procedures and working instructions from the internship supervisor
•Shows initiative in constantly reassessing project needs and makes suggestions that meet those needs proactively
•Develops new site functionality or code-base to decrease maintenance time and increase productivity
