Description

The Computer Support Intern at Bello Machre will report to the Service Desk Manager of Skyline Technology Solutions (esteemed partner of Bello Machre and leader in the support industry who has agreed to serve as mentor for this position) as well as the Office Manager at Bello Machre. Duties of this student will include providing computer support to our 50+ homes throughout Anne Arundel and Carroll Counties. Intern will be working side-by-side with staff from Skyline Technology Solutions while providing support to Bello Machre homes. As a large local IT firm, Skyline Technology Solutions provides Bello Machre with services pertaining such as cloud services, web services, backup and recovery and infrastructure. The student will also be responsible for the set-up of new computer systems obtained for the homes throughout the duration of their commitment.
The Administrative Operations Department provides policies and guidelines for agency operations. The department focuses on a variety of areas of non-profit management from quality assurance assessment to computer support.
• Arrange dispatch schedule with staff at each home
• Perform preventive maintenance including software and system security updates, cleaning of physical machines, identifying and addressing potential issues
• Diagnosing, troubleshooting and resolving computer issues as needed
• Regularly documenting work performed
Please note: This position requires travel throughout Anne Arundel County. Occasional travel to Carroll county locations may be needed. All applicants must have reliable transportation.
Please also note: this is an unpaid internship. Qualifying students are eligible to receive a stipend made possible through the Kathy and Jerry Woods Foundation upon successful completion of 120 hours.

Requirements

Education and Experience
In order to qualify for the stipend, the intern must be enrolled full time in a program of higher education, and must be in good academic standing. The individual should have completed fundamental classes such as writing and math. Education or training on hardware installation and troubleshooting preferred.

Skills
The ideal candidate will be exhibit proficiency in basic computer knowledge (Word, Excel, etc.) as well as knowledge of computer processes and basic troubleshooting. The candidate would be enthusiastic and capable of working independently.

Training, Licenses and Certifications
There are no specific licensure requirements for this position. Training to be completed upon hire will be provided at the expense of Bello Machre, Inc.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the intern is regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, sit, bend, lift, and reach with hands and arms. The intern may need to lift at least 50 pounds.

Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the intern may be in a variety of locations and conditions, including but not limited to the home, various offices, and out in the community.

Background Check and Drug Testing
Applicants must be willing to submit to a background check and drug testing. Due to the nature of this work, all applicants must pass both the background check and drug testing to qualify for the internship.
