THE MISSION: C4Q is a non-profit that is building an inclusive tech community in NYC and increasing economic mobility through technology. We believe that people from all backgrounds—across gender, ethnicity, and socio-economic background—should have the opportunity to learn to code, gain jobs in tech, and create companies of the future.

C4Q’s Access Code program produces high quality mobile developers through an intensive 9-month curriculum developed and taught by industry experts. Our graduates are being hired at leading tech companies such as Pinterest, OKCupid, NBCUniversal, Jet, and many others. Access Code class demographics are reflective of the NYC tech community we aim to build, with 50% women, 60% black or Hispanic, and 50% immigrants.

THE POSITION
Location: Long Island City, NY
Department: Tech Education (Access Code)
Type: Part time
Min. Experience: Passion for Mobile or Web Development, Interest in Education
Compensation: School credit or unpaid

We are looking for dedicated and able candidates that are pursuing careers in web development, mobile development, or computer science and have a passion for technology. You will gain firsthand experience working in the classroom as well as with tech startups and established companies.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include:
Participating in the day-to-day instruction and management of the classroom, including teaching some classes and topics
Working with volunteers to facilitate office hours and teaching assistance during class
Working with the instructor and volunteers develop curriculum focused on Data Structures, Algorithms, Mobile, and Web development
Designing, creating, and grading programming assignments and assessments
Supporting career training for both technical and non-technical instruction

Requirements

Candidates must have:
Proficiency in HTML, CSS, Javascript OR Java OR Swift
Knowledge of Git/GitHub
Solid organizational skills; prioritization and multi-tasking
Care for students and about education

Skills

Required - Software Development
Preferred - Computer Science, Education
