Description

The Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation is dedicated to curing spinal cord injury by funding innovative research, and improving the quality of life for people living with paralysis through grants, information and advocacy.

The Internship/volunteer opportunity would give the individual experience in coordinating the technical and content objectives for the Foundation’s Website initiatives. The individual would create, maintain, and work with the site’s pages, the site’s community application, and assist with some of the Reeve Foundation’s community efforts across the Web.

Internship General Information:
Required Hours: 12 - 21 hours per week
Length: a semester (fall, spring, or summer)
Compensation: for class credit or a volunteer work experience

Responsibilities

Possible activities may include:
- Content: Inputting and formatting content into CMS, including text, photos (checking rights, resizing, uploading), video, and create specialized online photo slideshows
- Site Scheduling: Schedule stories on homepage and channel pages, and monitor communities for appropriate editorial content for homepage
- Site Traffic: Regularly gather data on traffic and user patterns
- Newsletters: Prep HTML, add tracking, set up campaigns in Kintera. Maintain user database and assist in analyzing e-mail usage patterns
- Syndication: Prep content coming in and going out to partners
- Sweepstakes/Contests: Set up module on site, including, promo copy, rules and photo (prize) input, publishing/unpublishing module on time, managing entries, picking winners
- Development: Handle production of and maintain micro sites for chapters, special events, and marketing programs
- Surveys: Create, promote and analyze online surveys for marketing purpose and to understand our users needs

Requirements

Helpful knowledge and skills:
Basic knowledge and aptitude for HTML
Basic knowledge of Photoshop (resizing, uploading photos)
Basic knowledge of DreamWeaver
Ability to upload audio and video clips to site
