The South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) is a state cabinet agency, and by law, it is also a treatment and rehabilitative agency for the state's juveniles. DJJ is responsible for providing custodial care and rehabilitation for the state’s children who are incarcerated, on probation or parole, or in community placement for a criminal or status offense. Our goal at DJJ is to protect the public and reclaim juveniles through prevention, community programs, education, and rehabilitative services in the least restrictive environment possible. At DJJ we believe change is possible!

Positive role models are needed to provide recreational support to youth behind the fence at the Department of Juvenile Justice. Spend time learning more about young people while channeling their energy through physical activity. Interns support our experienced Activity Therapists as they develop plans and execute recreational activities designed to engage young people through positive outlets.

Interns must be pursuing a high education degree at an accredited university. All interested candidates must apply and interview for unpaid opportunities. Criminal background checks and orientation provided at no cost to the selected intern.
