DescriptionSoutheastern Guide Dogs, Tampa Bay Business Journal’s 2014 Nonprofit of the Year, has the distinction of being dually accredited by the two premier, global accreditation bodies: the International Guide Dog Federation (IGDF) and Assistance Dogs International (ADI). Founded in 1982, the organization employs the latest in canine development and behavior research to create and nurture partnerships between visually impaired individuals and extraordinary guide dogs. Southeastern Guide Dogs serves more than 400 graduates across the U.S. and continues to place more than 100 dogs each year into careers benefiting people with visual impairments, and veterans. The charity provides all of its services free of charge and receives no government funding.
Our Culinary intern would be on our Palmetto, FL campus helping our current Kitchen staff in preparation and serving meals to our students and staff. They would also help out with any special events that require food preparation and serving.
ResponsibilitiesAssists with planning and preparing meals for students, staff, and special events. Inspect and clean food prep areas. Assist in ensuring freshness of food and ingredients. Assist in keeping track of food dates and food orders. Assists in communicating and serving our students. Assists with dish-washing. Assists with food deliveries, storage, and keeping track of product turnover.
RequirementsMust possess the following skills:
- Basic knife skills
- Basic food prep
- Must be familiar with breakfast, lunch, and dinner services
- Must be familiar with buffet, banquets, and plated meals
- Be able to perform basic maintenance of equipment
