DescriptionShanty Creek Resorts is located 30 minutes northeast of Traverse City, features three distinct villages, four championship golf courses and 55 ski runs on two mountains within its 4,500 acres. The four-season destination features 450 rooms, a spa and fitness center, a wide variety of dining and entertainment options and 36,000 square feet of event and meeting space. As an intern you will not only be able to enjoy this beautiful area, but also learn about Restaurant Management in the process.
ResponsibilitiesResponsible for the preparation of all cold food for ala carte and banquet service. Assist with managing the kitchen, planning menus, purchasing foods, managing kitchen staff, and maintaining the budget. Works with Cook II and Steward in the preparation, cooking, and serving of food in accordance with specification sheets set forth by supervisors. Strives to achieve maximum guest satisfaction and handles all complaints and problems effectively and graciously. Oversees the handling of all perishable food, to minimize food waste.
Will also be responsible for attending Internship meetings and completion of Internship class project.
A minimum of 3 to 6 months of professional cooking experience is preferred for this position.
Enrollment in an accredited culinary school is required.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• TAM, Servsafe, and/or TiPS certification is preferred.
