Description

Mini Melanie is a Michelin-rated boutique bakery on the Lower East Side in New York City. Combining Pastry Chef/Founder Melanie Moss' love for homemade desserts with her experiences baking in some of New York's most celebrated restaurants, the menu is comprised of delectable chocolate truffles and mini cakes. Orders are distributed by delivery to local caterers, wedding and event planners, offices, and private clients, and out-of-state truffle orders are shipped via FedEx. The kitchen operates five days a week for pickups, production, and client tastings.

Mini Melanie is growing and is looking for a full-time Kitchen Intern to join our team! The ideal candidate has a culinary/pastry degree or is currently fulfilling their culinary degree and/or is passionate about desserts. He or she must have a positive and flexible disposition in the kitchen and an eagerness for learning.

This is a full-time, unpaid position with great room for growth, networking, and skill development.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:
Producing our signature chocolate truffles.
Assisting in creating our signature Mini Cakes.
Packaging our sweets for client orders and events.
Assisting the Mini Melanie team with off-site events and tastings.
Running errands to local specialty shops.
Knowledge of cake production and technical pastry skills are preferred.

Requirements

Applicant must be able to:
Shift responsibilities and tasks as needed in a fast-paced environment.
Provide consistent transportation to our office and kitchen, depending on weekly changing schedule.
Embrace a new company's drive and spirit, working closely with the Kitchen Director.
Have proficiency with Google Drive and Gmail and a quick response rate.
